Medication can help, or harm, a person, so it is essential that care workers who assist clients with medication, in residential aged care, understand their organisation’s guidelines and follow them exactly.

An important part of the guidelines for care workers assisting clients with medication are the 5 Rs. These are the Right person, the Right medication, the Right time, the Right route and the Right dose.

This video is based on realistic work situations and can be used in the induction and orientation of new staff, as refresher training and for learners undertaking accredited courses in the Community Services Training Package.

The resource also includes Trainers’ Notes and Learners’ Worksheets which can be customised for your organisation.
