Provide Assistance with Medication in Residential Aged Care
The 5Rs for aged care workers
Medication can help, or harm, a person, so it is essential that care workers who assist clients with medication, in residential aged care, understand their organisation's guidelines and follow them exactly.
An important part of the guidelines for care workers assisting clients with medication are the 5 Rs. These are the Right person, the Right medication, the Right time, the Right route and the Right dose.
This resource is based on realistic work situations and can be used in the induction and orientation of new staff, as a refresher, for in-house training and for learners undertaking accredited courses in the Community Services Training Package.
The rsource contains a DVD and a Trainers' Resource Kit on CD. The CD includes Trainers' Notes on how to use this resource and Learners' Worksheets which can be customised for your organisation.
