An important part of the guidelines for care workers assisting with medication in residential aged care are the 5 Rs. These are the Right person, the Right medication, the Right time, the Right route and the Right dose.

This resource is based on realistic work situations and supports a number of competencies in the Community Services Training Package.

It can be used in the induction and orientation of new staff, as a refresher, for in-house training and for learners undertaking accredited courses in the Community Services Training Package.

The resource focuses on the development of language, literacy and numeracy skills required by aged care workers in residential aged care settings assisting clients with self medication or providing physical assistance with medication. The DVD/video is not designed to teach these competencies but to address the language, literacy and numeracy needs of care workers.
