Medication can help, or harm,
a person, so it is essential that care workers who assist clients
with self medication or provide physical assistance with medication,
in residential aged care, understand their organization's guidelines
and follow them exactly.
An important part of the guidelines for care
workers assisting with medication in residential aged care are the
5 Rs. These are the Right person, the Right medication, the Right
time, the Right route and the Right dose.
This resource is based on realistic work situations
and supports a number of competencies in the Community Services
Training Package.
It can be used in the induction and orientation
of new staff, as a refresher, for in-house training and for learners
undertaking accredited courses in the Community Services Training
Package.
Available in DVD or video format and contains
a Trainers' Resource Kit on CD. The CD includes Trainers' Notes
on how to use this resource and Learners' Worksheets which can be
customised for your organisation.
